Do you know what is the difference between an ignition key, transponder key and switchblade key? This article would help you know all about the three variants.
While chatting with your friends on the issue of cars, you might have come across terms like ignition key, transponder key or switchblade key. If you have newly purchased a car, you might not be clear as to what these terms exactly mean. You might be confused which key you should get for yourselves. Ignition keys are the ones that are used to turn on the ignition of the car. It is a generic term used for describing almost any type of car key. This is the latest invention and is increasingly becoming popular. It can be stored in less space, making it more convenient. If ever there is a problem with a switchblade key, you will need to visit a locksmith who would reprogram it. The process is just like any transponder key. However, if only the key fob breaks, it can be replaced with a new fob. A locksmith would take care of the switchblade key as well as key fob problems.
Car Key Programmer provides radio transmission between the car key and the ignition system of the vehicle. There is a built in chip in the key with a code that allows the car to start. Duplicate keys will not work with the car because the code would not match. If a car key is lost or has been stolen, the car programmer can reprogram a spare key for your car. A programmer would also help you implement the Mileage Correction process in the car key. If a car develops an electrical fault, it may display an incorrect reading on its mileage. The process would take care of the problem and would change the speedometer reading.
Sometimes, the key might just not turn in an ignition. The basic reason is that the ignition assembly is not of the desired quality and thus gets worn out very fast, leaving the system with glitches. Design issue also leads to the problem. One comes across this kind of a situation when the wafers jam the ignition and the cylinder bends, leaving them latched in a position, which just does not allow them to move.
Gone are the days when ignition keys were the norm. Today people prefer keyless entry systems that look stylish as well as are more secure.

27 Jun 11 A Goldmine Hidden Inside the Acres of Diamonds
It was a really run down and had seen much better days years ago. As I came around the bend, there it stood, an old stone building that used to be a personal care home. It had been vacant for several years. Behind it was a large occupied home in the center of five acres.
The house was occupied and very rough. I met the seller and asked him if it was still for sale, and he nodded yes. I asked him how much that he wanted and the details of the property and buildings.
He informed me that there were two structures and two acres on one deed, two and half acres one the second deed, and a half an acre on the third deed. He showed me the layout and we toured the buildings. They were very rough and needed lots of work.
He had wanted 0K several years ago but no one ever looked at it. He said to make him a reasonable offer. I took all the information with me and began to pour over it. I met with the township to get some direction and got the latest codes.
I met with an engineer and also checked out getting access to utilities. It was at best a challenge. I knew there was potential, but I still had more homework to do.
I went back to the seller and explained my findings and of my casual interest. I didn’t want to do all this work and have it sold to another. I met with the seller, and we agreed on a selling price of 5K and he would hold the mortgage.
I decided to test the waters, so I placed a small sign on the property and ran ads in the paper under various uses. I was so surprised by all the calls that I got.
I had numerous open houses and had interest in both structures and also in the acreage.
Then, it finally dawned on me what I needed to do. A simple changing of the property lot lines would solve the problem. It was already subdivided, but both structures were on one deed with two acres. If I were to divide and place one structure with one acre, and the second structure with one half acre, and the raw ground with the balance of the acreage.
I hired an engineer to draw it up accordingly and I took it before the township, and gained instant approval in ten minutes. I had a list of buyers for each of the new parcels. All three buyers were on board right away. One for the home, one for the building and another for the raw ground to construct town homes.
I had a three-month option to buy. I spent ,000 for engineering fees, and after closings, walked away with a total of 6,000. I knew that this property had potential, and by playing with some various scenarios, finally determined that by simply moving two interior property lines, that solved the problem and made all the difference.
More money could have recognized if I had wanted to redo the commercial building and to also develop the raw ground, and construct the town homes of at least 0-400K more. Not a bad return. Most of my best deals have come from challenged properties, especially when they have motivated sellers.

“A man is only as good as his tools” is a phrase I’m sure you’ve heard before and it applies to bartending as much as anything else.
You’ll only ever be as good as your tools, so make sure you’re not without them. The quality of your tools can make or break your experience behind the bar so it’s important you take this lesson seriously.
There are countless bartending tools out there. Will you use them all? No. But there are certain tools that every bartender must have. In this first lesson, we’ll be taking a look at those ‘must-have’ tools so pay close attention.
Bottle Opener
Now whether you’re working in a low or high volume bar, a bottle opener is not only crucial to your speed, but also your hands!
Imagine opening every bottle of beer ordered with your bare hands… you wouldn’t last the night without seriously doing damage to your palms.
There are many different types of bottle openers out there on the market… everything from a simple ‘key-chain opener’ all the way to a ‘butterfly bottle opener’, you know, like a butterfly knife? Pretty cool.
Find out what works for you. I’ve used the same stainless steel ‘speed opener’ for years now, it does the job (with style) everytime so I’ve had no reason to switch.
Wine Opener/Corkscrew
The best, most versatile wine opener is known as the ‘waiter’s wine opener’. It’ll always do the job, even on the most difficult and the most stubborn corks. Compare this to many others out there that often break the cork or have you struggling in front of the customer to get the damn thing open.
A waiter’s wine opener includes a corkscrew (worm), a sharp blade to cut the seal of the wine and also a bottle opener device if you’re desperate for one.
I recommend a ‘two-level’ lever on your opener as well, that’s what I personally use. Mine has never failed me in opening a bottle of wine.
Cocktail Shaker
This is the stainless steel thingy you see bartenders pour ingredients into for a martini or shooter and shake vigorously. This is a must-have for all bartenders.
A good rule of thumb for cocktails is, the colder it is, the better it tastes. Why else would bartenders concoct a drink by pouring pre-chilled ingredients into a shaker with ice, shaking like crazy and then serving it in a chilled glass? Because you want every part of the process to be ‘chilling’ to prevent any ‘warming’ of the cocktail.
There are two types of shakers out there:
1) Standard Shaker
This is a three-piece stainless steel shaker that has the strainer built into it. I find the Standard Shaker is not as common among professional, working bartenders.
It consists of the shaker tin, lid with strainer and cap. Perhaps it’s more complicated design with smaller parts discourages working bartenders from using this more often. But it will do the job just as well as the…
2) Boston Shaker
From my experience, the Boston Shaker is actually more standard among professional bartenders. This one is simply a shaker tin with a separate mixing glass that’s slightly smaller in size. It’s a two-piece device that you simply seal together to shake the cocktail.
The tendency is seal it as tight as you can and proceed to shake, although this is not necessary as you can often seal it too tight, and then not be able to open it when you’re done shaking and ready to pour the concoction.
If you’re ever in this situation, use the edge of the bar and clip the overlapping metal lip (which will always be on the outside, as the glass is always smaller and fits inside) against the edge of the bar. You can also ‘twist’ them apart, that will often break the seal too.
But avoid all that by fitting them together nice and snug instead of as tight as you can.
You can purchase shaker sets in all types of different sizes and styles, but they pretty much fall into one of the two types listed above.
Strainer
Again, you’ll find many different types of strainers on the market. But the only kind I’ve ever used and would want to use is the Hawthorn Strainer.
You know, it’s that real funny looking stainless steel thing with the handle and the spring coil. The purpose behind the spring coil on the strainer is so you can fit it into all types of different shaped glasses. So it’s a very versatile tool.
I should mention that when using a shaker I often do not use a strainer. I use the Boston Shaker and simply crack a tiny opening in the seal between the two and pour out the concoction ‘cracked egg’ style.
If you’re more of a visual learner like me, Tom Cruise does this when pouring his ‘Turquoise Blue’ Martini for Gina Gershon in the two floor NYC nightclub in the movie Cocktail.
Coasters
Not every bar uses coasters. But it’s a good thing to have. They’ll prevent a lot of unnecessary wet spots or ‘rings’ on the bar from moisture off the side of the glass.
I’ve worked in slower, classier places where using them is mandatory. I’ve also worked in higher volume nightclubs where you don’t use coasters because you’re wiping the bar down every five minutes anyway, so why bother? Which leads me to…
Bar Towel (Rag)
A fresh, clean set of bar towels is something every bartender needs. In high volume places, the bar is constantly needing a wipe down from spilt drinks, drink rings, sticky shooter glasses, etc.
I like to have a minimum of four, strategically placed wet bar towels in my working area at all times.
One thing I teach you in Bartending Secrets Exposed is to have everything systemized. You want things as seemingly insignificant as location of your bar rag to be the same every night. You don’t want to think about where it is everytime you need it, you want it to be second nature, you want to be able to grab it without even looking!
The party can often get sloppy so you must have your bar rags close at hand.
Ice Scoop
Forcefully cutting through and scooping your ice with an actual glass is a very stupid thing to do. Yet I see bartenders do it all the time. I don’t even recommend you ‘gently and carefully’ scoop the ice with the glass. There’s just too much margin for error.
If you chip the glass, and you know it, you’re spending the next ten minutes emptying and refilling your ice well. If you don’t know it, and you happen to serve a customer a drink garnished with glass shavings you could be in some serious trouble.
Using a metal ice scoop is mandatory as a bartender. It really doesn’t take more time to scoop ice with a separate scoop. You can also do some fancy tricks once you get good too.
Jigger/Measuring Glass
If you work in a bar that allows free pouring, you won’t be needing this handy tool. But in most regions of North America free pouring is illegal and you’re required to use some sort of measuring device, whether it’s an automatic or manual device all depends on where you work.
While I’m not a believer in the automatic devices you see nowadays, using a shot glass or jigger (manual device) to measure the amount of alcohol you pour into each drink is what I’ve always done as a bartender.

Garnish Picks
Skewers, plastic swords picks, arrow picks… or whatever you want to call them… are for those exclusive garnishes like olives and cherries. They really add to the presentation of a drink and are a must-have for those customers you want to really impress.
Whether it’s giving the customer three olives with their martini or an orange slice and a cherry with one of my seductive martinis, I always have a supply of garnish picks close at hand.
Pour Spouts
Whether you free pour or not, a bar that deals with any type of volume and has any interest in inventory control should have these on all of the high moving liquor bottles. There are many different styles of pour spouts out there:
-plastic
-metal
-neon
-glow in the dark
-slow pour (3 seconds per ounce)
-fast pour
-screened
-flapped
-measured
All have some associated benefit or gimmick. But I like things simple so I use the metal ‘slow pour’ spouts on all my liqueurs and the metal ‘fast pour’ spouts on all my well liquor which I’m using a shot glass for anyway. Why wait three seconds when you’re measuring with a glass already?
Time truly is money in this industry.
Now at this point you might be thinking, “Jeremy, you’re talking about the kind of tools and supplies the bar should be supplying, you’re making it sound like I have a choice on what kind of pour spouts I use.”
Realize I don’t want you to go out and start buying pour spouts and garnish picks. Those expenses should be left to the bar you’re working for. But remember that YOU’RE the one working the bar, not the manager. If the bar where you work has crappy pour spouts and doesn’t even use garnish picks, it’s up to you to suggest it!
I believe it’s your choice. After all, you’re the one using it, right? Managers will always be open to suggestions if it will improve your speed and performance, thus, increase sales.
Straws
This is obvious, but you should always have straws close at hand. The bigger or more you give the customer, the better. You control the speed at which your customers drink by how many straws you give them. Make ‘em drink fast so you increase your sales (which equals more tips).
Lighter/Matches & Pens
Ask any bartender out there and they’ll agree that besides ‘a drink’, you’ll be asked for ‘a light’ or a pen more than anything else.
So what’s the best thing you can do??? Have them close at hand!
Have a ton of pens to lend, because you may not always get them back and you always want to have enough. Also, always have a load of matchbooks to give to customers in need.
I also recommend you have a sleek butane lighter of your own for customers needing a light right at your bar and also when flaming drinks are necessary.
Tip Jar
Last, but certainly not least is to have your own tip jar.
While I go into extreme detail in Bartending Secrets Exposed on the true art and science of the tip jar, what I’ll tell you here is that having one is a must! You’re losing tips without one!
Have your own, preferably a wine carafe. The tapered neck of a wine carafe means once a tip is in the jar, it’s in. You won’t have any hands dipping in to swipe your hard earned tips, which can often happen in a busy nightclub.

The concept of these spring loaded blades have been around for many years. With examples of them appearing on flintlock pistols and on coach guns as early as 1700s. Then later in 1790s being made a more offered tool. Many of the early examples switchblades are either English, of French.

The out-the-front or the OTF switchblade, pops out the front as the name suggest. Now there are two different types of OTF blades a single and double action. The single action is when you push the button and the blade pops out and then you have to manually push the blade back in. The double action is the same this the different of that to put the blade back in you just push the button again. These knives have been at the center of controversy for years, because of the popularity with criminals. because of the quick opening systems of these knives people that might brake the law like them.

Right after the civil war in America knife production was industrialized. That is when the first American switchblade was made. It is called the Korn Patent knife. switchblades started to get its bad name when street gangs started using them. People started to think that if they put a ban on them that it would stop gang violence. The US congress chose to make these knives illegal. So in the 1960s switchblades that where made in America where only being soled to the military. Later knife makers found away around these laws by selling switchblades in build it your self kits. Now though this loophole is closed in many states.
these knives are legal in some country’s but very illegal in others. Although many country’s banned them and many more have very strict laws, you can carry them in some country’s. In the United States you can not carry them on federal lands, Indian reservations, military bases, or Washington DC. The Act that limits switchblades also limits Ballistic knives. But other then that the federal government leaves the rest of the decision making to the individual states.
In many states the are out right illegal, and in some they are perfectly legal. Then there are a few that they are legal but with some guide lines. In Missouri, Montana, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas they are illegal, but exceptions are made for antiques and collectors. In Virginia you can own one but you can’t sell one. In Rhode Island you can own one but it can’t have a dagger, dirk, or stiletto blade. In Ohio you can have one but you have to buy it though a online retailer. In New York you and have one but only if you have a hunting or fishing license. So of these laws are pretty out there but to each there own.

Osama bin Laden is dead as many by now are aware of or are being made aware of through the many media networks which now a days are available to most people through out the world. I, in all this have heard on CNN as well as other information sources that Osama bin Laden was killed by American forces and then buried at sea. This as is said to be the custom in the Islamic religion yet I wonder if this was such a good idea.
By this I wonder if burying Osama bin Laden’s body at sea, a place where it would be almost impossible to prove his body was ever deposited so quickly after his death was a good idea. After all there are those who will always refuse to believe news of this nature given their perhaps fanaticism or perhaps hopes, unless they can be shown proof which eliminates all doubt.
Of course in saying this we should not forget that there are also those who will always look to create doubt in the mind of others regarding the death of such people. This being a case where creating doubt in the minds of some would not be difficult by those who wish to do so. As all they need do is point out the fact that Osama bin Laden’s body was never shown to the public as was for example Mussolini’s body; after his death which served as absolute proof that he was dead. So I wonder if perhaps it would not have been wiser for the United States to have waited till Osama bin Laden’s body was shown to the international media before disposing of it at sea and thus eliminating speculation that he might not have been killed.
It even being this factor or a similar one which led many people to believe that Hitler had not committed suicide in his bunker when it was alleged he did but had escaped. This theory fueled by the fact that Hitler’s body was never found due to his having given instructions that it be burnt beyond recognition after he died. Hitler claiming he did not want to fall in to the hands of Soviet troops either alive or dead.
Of course even if Osama Bin Laden’s body had been shown to the public and the media, there still might have been those who would have said that the body being shown was not his but somebody else’s; who the United States was trying to pass off as Osama bin Laden’s. I however believe that burying the body at sea so soon after his death might give further reason for speculation by those who want to do so that Osama Bin Laden might not be dead or that this is just a propaganda stunt by the United States.
After all there have been reports in the past that Osama bin Laden was dead which obviously turned out to be false and as a matter, I have already seen on the internet; a person claiming that Osama bin Laden was not really dead. All of which leading me to ask has the United States, only created fuel for speculation by burying Osama bin Laden’s body at sea so quickly after his death and before showing it to the media?

It is said that in his last moment of life, Richard Holbrook, US Special Envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan had told his doctor that they must stop war in Afghanistan. In fact most of the world wants the same but the question is that how it would be possible and who has to play the key and vital role?
Kabul, the Capital City of Afghanistan and centre of all political activities and centre of power, has the uncertainty, even after nine years of ISAF presence and era of development. Kabul is very different from other parts of the country. The Capital city has all facilities and has a good infrastructure. The roads are good and have traffic jams during peak hours. Most of the Afghans, who have witnessed the thirty years long instability, consider the situation as temporary and says that anything could happen any time. It’s not a fear which is a result long war on their soil but they have a solid and strong logic behind it.
One can see the busy life in Kabul at public places. Construction is underway over almost every road of the city. Newly and large residential and commercial buildings have increased beauty of the Capital.
Although foreigners (both combatants and non-combatants) are not normally seen at public places but every interested local and international player has started playing his game secretly and behind the closed doors. Foreign involvement in the country is the biggest open secret and ill fortune of Afghans. No matter who is responsible for this but in fact it’s the root of all miseries.
One of the main differences between the Soviet and American wars in Afghanistan is that in case of former the aggressors were from one State while in later Nato has been involved and the matter has been successfully universalized. The result of both wars is not very much different but the number of players on the Chess Board has been increased. For example in today’s Afghanistan, India has become a major player. India has eased visa for them and started billions of dollars investment in the country. Airlines have daily direct flights from Kabul to New Dehli and back. Indian manpower has a vital role in private sector. It is not just a Pakistani perspective but the whole world including Afghans are well aware of the fact that what the Indian interests there are?
Iran as a neighboring State is very much concerned with affairs of the country. Iran has aching memories of Taliban regime in past. So Iran is also taking great interest in matters of Afghanistan. Iran is backing the large Shia Muslims in Kabul. Farsi language has a great influence over Dari these days.
It is often said (and rightly said) that situation in Afghanistan has a direct impact over Pakistan from the very first day of Soviet aggression. There are different perspectives on the matter of Pakistani role in Afghanistan but no one can deny importance of Pakistan. Both the countries are attached in historic, religious and cultural relations. But besides all these if some one has any concern about Pakistani involvement in Afghan affairs in past, they have justification. But if someone want to severe the two nations, then its impossible. For example, even today while the anti Pakistani wind is blowing in the Kabul, all Afghans have warm wishes for Pakistan in almost rest of Afghanistan. 95 per cent of Afghans from their President to a Laborer have spent some of his time in Pakistan. Most of those Afghans now serving their great nation have studied in Pakistan. They called Pakistan their second home.
No State, including Pakistan, has any right to interfere in Afghanistan’s affairs. All the regional and international powers must respect its integrity and autonomy of it.
Most of the Afghans are against any involvement of any other State in their internal matters but they are seen helpless while talking about some powerful Afghan decision makers, who have vested interests.
United States and Nato have announced their withdrawal plans and they want to hand over the control to Afghan government. It is the time for the whole world to play an impartial role in construction of a new Afghanistan. All the neighboring nations of Afghanistan with international power must sat together and promise to help Afghanistan in standing over its own feet. Moreover, no State will use Afghan soil for their vested interests and against any one.
On the other side, the Afghans have to play very important task. They have to build their nation and must avoid the self interest game. In view of most of Afghans, Hamid Karzai is best choice as a leader in their country. (Karzai’s weep during his speeches has a great impact over Afghans). All those Afghans with real representations of their people, must sit together to formulate a strategy for the future. No one knows better than the Afghans that war is not a solution of any problem. If any Afghan has reservation about the presence or involvement of any foreigner in their country, then a just political system and unity of all Afghans can stop it. Political struggle with good diplomacy is a great power in today’s world and no State can occupy other State in presence of it.
Although those kinds of suggestions look like impossible and some one might call it “A Fool’s Paradise,” but in fact any international platform with an open discussion and accepting the ugly and stinging realities, with mediation of neutral States like Switzerland etc, its quite possible. Afghanistan and Pakistan as main victims of terror and evils must take initiative for this purpose.
In absence of any such peace initiative, the situation might be more deteriorating. The foreign occupied forces with vested interest have to leave Afghanistan one day, but country will witness yet another situation of post cold war era, which is not in the interest of the whole world, particularly the three decades war affected Afghans.
